Auricular (ear) reflexology can be used alone as a treatment, or incorporated into a standard reflexology treatment, it can also be used on first aid basis. It can be performed almost anywhere, anytime and any place.
Auricular reflexology is a specialised form of reflexology, focusing on stimulating specific points on the ear to promote holistic well-being and natural healing within the body. Based on the principle that the ear is a microsystem representing the entire body. This therapy aims to improve overall health by targeting corresponding areas through gentle pressure techniques. By stimulating these precise points on the ear, auricular reflexology encourages the body's innate ability to restore balance, reduce tension, and enhance the flow of vital energy throughout the system.
From a holistic health perspective, auricular reflexology offers a myriad of benefits. Not only relieving stress and tension, but also facilitating improved circulation, contributing to a sense of increased vitality and overall wellness. Those who have experienced auricular reflexology have reported its success in alleviating various discomforts such as back ache, while enhancing the body's natural healing processes, and promoting a deeper sense of relaxation and inner balance. Those who engage with this therapy on a regular basis report a feeling of mental clarity and emotional equilibrium.
AURICULAR THERAPY CAN BE USED TO SUPPORT MANY CONDITIONS INCLUDING:
WHAT THE TREATMENT INVOLVES:
An initial new client consultation will be carried out covering your full history. This allows insight into possible catalysts for the condition presented, and how best to treat. Specific auricular therapy protocols will then be used according to assessment of need. Specific areas on the ears will be massaged , and have pressure applied. This can be done by finger tip, probe or acupressure pen. I may ask you to walk around or move your limbs for 30 seconds to stimulate the nervous system.
I then apply ear seeds to continue enhancing acupressure to the specific points identified in your session. This provides you with the option for further increased gentle stimulation at home over the next few days.
This can be used as a full ear reflexology and ear seeding treatment or as an add on to your foot reflexology treatment.
I use tiny Vaccaria seeds (a natural plant product) commonly used for ear seeding. If you would prefer silver or gold plated seeds this will be at a slightly increased cost.
Like most complementary therapies, Hopi ear candling has a very long history, it is a very ancient and natural therapy.
Hopi means people of peace, and they were the first Pueblo Indians to settle on the North American continent.
It is also known as candling was used by the Ancient Greeks for cleansing and purifying the ear and healing on a spiritual level. Many people from the Mediterranean and Latin American countries can remember receiving ear candling as young children.
The candles work by creating heat that fills the ear canal, and sinuses with the healing vapour from the essential oils which are impregnated into the candles - helping to soothe and draw toxins from the ears, nasal passages and sinuses, creating space and the ability to breathe easier.
This is an extremely relaxing treatment and after candling a massage of the face and head is included as part of the treatment, the massage continues to help drainage of the sinuses and helps to relax you on a deeper level.
There is also the option to have candling done without the facial massage if preferred.
Hopi ear candles are still made today, they are made from Organically grown flax, 100% beeswax, Healing honey extracts, and beta carotene. They are also available in a variety of aromas from various essential oils. Such as St Johns wort, sage and chamomile, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass etc...
When you arrive for your appointment a medical questionnaire will be completed and if there are no contraindications to the therapy you will be asked to lie on your side on a treatment couch. A towel will be used to cover your hair and a guard placed over the candle at the end closer to your ear. The candle will be inserted into your ear ensuring a good seal and the candlelit. It can take around 10 minutes to burn in each ear(sometimes a little more or a little less, depending on the health of your ears and sinuses etc..). Once both sides have had candling, you will be asked to lie on your back for the facial massage to help with sinus drainage.
